Repository 66 logo design

Did a small logo design project with stuart from repository66 over at the graphic design forum the design brief was...

My initial thought was for a logo based of the iconic U.S. Route 66 logo.

The domain will hold information about repository software - software which hold items such as magazine articles written by scholars and academics.

It was simple case of making the current route 66 logo into a brand for the new repository66 site, we decided to keep the colours as they where which is the orange/dark yellow and thought it had the best impact on a black banner.


This was the first draft it just needed the edges cleaning up a bit and drawn as a vector for future scaling/print purposes.

Seperated at Birth?

Is it me or does new Jazz sensation Amy Whinehouse look like the long lost daughter of Janice from friends??


If that's not an uncanny look a like I don't know what is. Janice played by Maggie Wheeler was know for her quite uniquely annoying voice and erratic behavior. Maybe she was a drunk who had a bit too much vodka during child birth and this rubbed of the wined-up wine-house??

High Slide JS

It's amazing how quick a great idea becomes a bit 'oh not that again' this happens to be the case with lightbox JS it's already used on so many sites, that what was a brilliant idea to use and implement not long ago people already feel they've seen the lengths of it's ability.
So to my surprise I came across a similar JS script that works similar to lightbox but doesn't look like 'another lightbox' script. Highslide expands the pictures within the content area quite smoothly and offer a good alternative if you don't want a script like lightbox to 'takes over the whole screen'.

Betty Boop Forum

More blatant advertising from my blog that just entered Yahoo at number six for the keywords 'graphic design forum', waiting weeks for graphic design forum to enter and nothing. Oh well.

Talking of Search Engine entries I built a Betty Boop Forum for the missus and it's entered MSN at number 6.

Anyone who interested in joining a Betty Boop Forum or anyone who has any interest in Betty Boop and all things Boop like sign up and have a chat.


It's built using the same editboard forum builder I used for graphic design forum and looks a lot nicer than most of the other Betty Boop Forums out their.

Graphic Design Forum Joins Myspace

Decided it would be sad blatant advertising to have a Graphic Design Forum Myspace site, but blatant advertising is better than no advertising at all so I gave it a go. I pimped myself around the myspace community making contact with other designers, inviting them along to join the Graphic and Web Design Forum and have some fun.




Though about spending time doing it up but really haven't got the time and to add insult to injury I decided on a black background due to my rants on the forum about my hate for all black sites.

Had to beg on the forum for some pals so we didn't look too lonley. Still can't see the facination with myspace but we'll see.
